Solo: A Star Wars Story’s Alden Ehrenreich confirms BIG rumour about Han spin-off

The actor, 28, will be stepping into Harrison Ford’s shoes when the long-awaited caper hits cinemas in late May.

But it may not be the only time we see him playing the iconic character.

It has long been rumoured that the key cast of Solo had signed contracts giving bosses the option of using them in future films – and now Ehrenreich appears to have confirmed that he could feature in up to another two Star Wars movies.

Asked by Esquire how many productions he’s signed up for, he admitted: “Three.”

He added: “I don’t know if that’s officially, uh, public. But—yeah.”

This isn’t particularly surprising news, and it’s not a guarantee that Ehrenreich will show up again in another Star Wars movie.

After all, some of the cast of Rogue One – including Felicity Jones – were thought to have clauses in their contracts leaving the door open for further appearances but, for reasons obvious to anyone who saw that movie, nothing further has materialised.

Ultimately it seems bosses will wait to see how Solo performs at the box office and with critics before making any decisions on the actors’ usage in future films.

There is certainly plenty more in the pipeline: Rian Johnson is taking charge of his own original trilogy, while Game of Thrones’ David Benioff and DB Weiss have also been tasked with making their own Star Wars films.

Ehrenreich plays alongside Donald Glover as a young Lando Calrissian, plus Thandie Newton, Emelia Clarke, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Woody Harrelson and Paul Bettany.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is out on May 25.
