Spider-Man 2 Far From Home title meaning: Avengers 4 links, release date and plot

Holland may have just got himself into another sticky mess.

The web-slinger’s loose-lipped alter-ego has just ‘accidentally’ revealed the title of his next solo movie at Seattle Comic Con. 

Assuming that his indiscretion was actually part of a Marvel plan, Far From Home will be the title for the 23rd movie in the MCU. It is also the film which kick-starts the franchise after Avengers 4 brings the immense first arc to its dramatic conclusion.

It seems Peter Parker will literally be very far from home…

PLOT: The film makers have revealed the “global” scale of the next movie which has a shooting schedue all over the world – including London.

Sony producer Amy Pascal said the film: “will start a few minutes after Avengers 4 wraps as a story.”

Kevin Feige also teased that the movie will take place just seconds after the ending of Avengers 4 and stressed the importance of Spider-Man to the new Phase of the MCU, as well as his ongoing struggles to balance life as a teenager with evrything he has gone through.

Feige told iO9: “”So much happens in [Avengers 3 and 4], as you can imagine, and so much is affected by it that we felt what better person to hold your hand and lead you into the next incarnation of the MCU, in a grounded, realistic manner, than Peter Parker?

“So, coming out two months after Untitled Avengers, [that’s what] much of what the next Spider-Man film will be about.

“It was purposefully done like this. Like how the events of Captain America: Civil War impacted Peter as he was dropped off by Tony and expected to go back to continue his sophomore year, how the hell are the events of Infinity War and Untitled [Avengers] going to affect him as he, yes, goes back to his junior year?”

CAST: “Holland will be joined by Zendaya as mathlete brainbox Michelle ad Jaconb Batlan as Spidey’s best pal Ned.

Marisa Tomei will be back as Aunt May but it looks increasingly likely Spider-Man will have to cope without his mentor, Iron Man, with Robert Downey Jr expected to bow out of the MCU after Avengers 4.

There are consistent rumours that Jake Gyllenhaal is being lined up to play iconic Marvel villain Mysterio.

VENOM: Tom Hardy will make his debut as Spider-Man’s nemesis Venom/Eddy Brock this autumn. Early rumours Holland had been spotted on the set have not been substantiated but the younger star has just voiced his enthusiasm for the two characters to battle it out on screen.

Whether Sony woudl allow another property to cross into the Marvel movie universe remains to be seen.

RELEASE DATE: Spider-Man Homecoming 2 is expected to start filming over the summer. It has a US release date of July 5
