Spider-Man 2: Who is Numan Acar playing in Spider-Man sequel Far From Home?
Spider-Man Far From Home has had its fair share of rumours surrounding its production.
Between casting speculations and cameos from other Marvel heroes, fans are lapping up every new detail.
Who is Numan Acar playing in Spider-Man 2?
Acar is best known for his role in Homeland, and Deadline has reported he is joining the cast of Spider-Man: Far From Home.
The sequel is Marvel and Sony’s follow-up to 2017’s smash reboot of Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Acar is portraying a character named Dimitri.
This tidbit has created speculation Acar could be playing Dmitri Smerdyakov, a.k.a. The Chameleon.
The Chameleon is a character who has previously been rumoured as a potential villain.
Spider-Man 2’s director Jon Watts described The Chameleon as “cool” when he was asked about the possibility of the villain appearing in the sequel.
This is the second big-budget feature that Acar has landed after being cast in Disney’s live-action Aladdin adaptation, also due out next year.
He recently appeared in The Promise, and alongside Diane Kruger in the Golden Globe-winning film In the Fade.
Dan Lebental, the film’s editor, told The Hollywood Reporter: “I can’t say much about the new Spider-Man but I will offer up that it will be both grander in scale and even funnier than the last one.”
Acar’s other castmates include the new additions of J.B. Smoove (in an unnamed role) and Jake Gyllenhaal, who is in talks to play the baddie Mysterio.
Tom Holland is, of course, reprising his role as Peter Parker aka Spider-Man.
Marisa Tomei (Aunt May), Michael Keaton (The Vulture), Zendaya (Michelle), Hemky Madera as (Mr Delmar) and Jacob Batalon (Ned) are all returning to the sequel.
As for the premise of Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker’s demise at the end of Avengers: Infinity War shouldn’t have any huge ramifications for the Spider-Man sequel.
Last year it was revealed Spider-Man Far From Home would be set within “minutes” of the end of Avengers 4,
How this works in practice remains to be seen.
Spider-Man Far From Home will be released in July 2019.
