Spider-Man 2: Will Doctor Strange be in the Spider-Man sequel?

The Spider-Man sequel, which lands in cinemas next year, has already been spotted filming in locations across the UK.

Fans have, perhaps rightly, been speculating another Marvel hero may show his very British face.

Will Doctor Strange be in the Spider-Man sequel?

Speaking to Slash Film, Marvel head Kevin Feige took the rumour bull by the horns.

“No.” Feige said, “I could be coy about it but no. I don’t wanna get people excited.”

He added: “But Benedict and Holland have liked the idea of working together.”

However, Feige told Cinemabland fans shouldn’t be too upset about a lack of Doctor Strange in Far From Home.

“Sometimes, it’s where do those characters pop up?”

“[Doctor] Strange, you know, whenever we do another Strange [movie], which we will do, it will be a number of years from the first Strange, and yet he’s a very big part of Infinity War,” Feige said.

He added: “It is a good problem to have when you have too many beloved characters that people want to see more of, whilst keeping to our core belief that we need to keep exploring nuance and keep doing different types of things.”

Speaking to Gizmodo, Feige unwittingly, perhaps, gave away some more salient details of Far From Home.

He said:”So much happens in [the third and fourth Avengers movies], as you can imagine, and so much is affected by it that we felt what better person to hold your hand and lead you into the next incarnation of the MCU, in a grounded, realistic manner, than Peter Parker?”

“So, coming out two months after Untitled Avengers, [that’s what] much of what the next Spider-Man film will be about,” he added.

“It was purposefully done like [that],” Feige added.

“Like how the events of Captain America: Civil War impacted Peter as he was dropped off by Tony and expected to go back to continue his sophomore year, how the hell are the events of Infinity War and Untitled [Avengers] going to affect him as he, yes, goes back to his junior year?”

Even without Doctor Strange making an appearance in Far From Home, the Spider-Man sequel still has plenty to please fans.

“I can’t say much about the new Spider-Man but I will offer up that it will be both grander in scale and even funnier than the last one,” Dan Lebental, the film’s editor, told The Hollywood Reporter.

“The rest of the story will have to wait.”

Spider-Man: Far From Home will be in cinemas July 2019.
