Star Wars 9 'GUERILLA WAR is like the Cuban rebels fighting the US empire' says star
Things are about to get even darker in a galaxy far, far away.
After the SFX-heavy Episode 8 and storylines which divided the entire fandom and provoked a fan backlash, JJ Abrams is taking it back to the grounded and location-based storytelling of his first entry, The Force Awakens.
New details have just emerged of how gritty and dirty the fighting will get. Patriotic US fans may not like their country being compared to the evil First Order.
Will blurring the lines even more between heroes and villains please the fans or be seen as a further betrayal of the legacy Star Wars characters and storylines?
Poe Dameron’s behaviour in The Last Jedi frustrated many fans, after he was portrayed as irresponsible and insubordinate, putting lives at risk for his own determination that he was right.
It looks like he will be facing even darker times in Epsode 9.
The actor told USA Today that the Resistance “are guerrilla fighters, adhering closer to something like the Revolutionary War fighters or even the guerrillas in Cuba with Che and Fidel and all these guys living in the mountains, coming down to do some attacks, and going back and trying to hide from the ’empire’ of the United States.”
His comparisons are vivid, but may not be the most wisely chosen considering how many US fans are still unhappy with the Last Jedi.
Isaac added: “The nature of the story is different… It is a war movie. I mean, above and beyond, it is a movie about warriors.”
He also warned fans that they will see some dark choices being made.

The first set of leaked photographs showed Poe Dameron with Finn and Chewbacca, linking up with rebels fighters on a desolate, windswept planet.
Isaac added: “You hear about stories with (George) Washington as a general, where lots of people died based on their orders, but that is part of leadership and that push-and-pull in the fight for figuring out what’s the way to move forward.”
Star Wars 9 is shaping up to be the most dramatic story yet in the series.
