Star Wars 9: Luke Skywalker to return? Mark Hamill hints ‘I like surprises’
The conclusion to the Star Wars Skywalker saga is set to go into production over the summer, and Luke was seen appearing to die at the end of 2017’s The Last Jedi.
But fans have long been speculating over a potential appearance as a Force Ghost – something Hamill has remained tight-lipped over.
In a new interview with Collider, he insisted he is unaware of whether or not Luke will be in the trilogy finale.
“I don’t know,” he maintained. “I’m the last to know.”
“We talked about living in Malibu, our relatives and pets. It never really came up.
“But that’s the way it should be, I don’t want to strong-arm him [Gunn] in any way.
“I love the movies, they’re fun, but I’m happy to be in the audience.”
It’s been suggested that Star Wars: Episode 9 could feature scenes on Yavin 4, the moon used for the Rebel base in A New Hope and Rogue One.
The speculation is rooted in claims that the set in Bedfordshire, England, has been booked for shooting this summer.
Star Wars: Episode 9 is out on December 20, 2019.
