Star Wars backlash: THIS huge Last Jedi problem with Rey and Luke has been FIXED

By now everyone knows that a large and very vocal part of the Star Wars fan base had some major issues with Episode 8.

Siphoning out the more misogynistic and hateful elements still leaves the majority of the complaints intact.

Two of the biggest problems focus on Luke Skywalker’s disappointing failure to have a truly dynamic and triumphant moment, and Rey’s seemingly inexplicable Force abilities whith virtually no training.

Finally this has been tackled head on in a new official release, but is it enough to placate fans?

The associated novelisations and comics have already become a valued resource for fans, since they always provide far greater insights into character motivations and actions.

However, this time the revelation it is far more simple and yet enormously powerful and may finally put some fan frustrations to rest.

Remember the final confrontation on Ahch-To when Rey faces off against Luke and rebels? They even have a brief lightsaber ‘battle.’

Luke is one of the all-time greatest and most poweful users of the Force, Dark or Light side. Yet Rey seemed to outfight him, overpower him and leave him sprawling and defeated on the ground.

This was just of the moments which fuelled the “Mary Sue’ slurs, accusing Disney of creating a character who is so perfect and so destined to always win that no logical plot development is necessary to explain her superiority in everything.

The scene also, yet again, portrayed a weak and ineffective Luke.

Marvel’s new Last Jedi comic Issue #4 explains what really happened.

Gary Whitta’s new, official canon version of the scene shows that Luke actually slipped and stumbled on some pebbles, which brought him to the ground. It was tsis not Rey’s superior strength or skill which brought him down.

While this somewhat counters the ‘Mary Su’ effect, it unfortunately still presents Luke as a Jedi who is no longer master of his environment, no longer fleet and steady of foot, no longer a great Jedi warrior.

Disney may still have a long way to go to ever bring back the fans alienated and disaffected by Rian Johnson’s Last Jedi.

THE LAST JEDI ISSUE #4 IS OUT NOW
