Star Wars Episode 9 TEASER: What will Episode 9 time jump reveal for the END of the Jedi?

Star Wars fans can spin a yarn out of the thinnest of threads.

One of these threads was the now confirmed time jump between the end of Episode 8 (The Last Jedi) and the start of Episode 9.

The time jump on its own is news, but what will the Episode 9 it reveal?

One theory fans are particularly excited by is the possibility of a time jump, allowing for the affectionately-named Broom Boy to take a more prominent role while simultaneously predicting the end of the Jedi as Luke foretold.

At the end of The Last Jedi, a young boy was seen moving a broom towards him with the Force, while wearing the resistance ring gifted to him by Rose Tico.

Some fans thought this gesture was one to show fans the Jedi aren’t over yet.

But others speculate this is a sign the Force has been democratised, available to all and not just the Jedi.

This theory adds a whole new meaning to the phrase Luke utters: “The Jedi must end.”

Perhaps their end has less to do with Luke’s death and more to do with the ability for everyone to use the Force to some degree.

The time jump between Episodes 8 and 9 is not unprecedented, despite the seamless transition between Episodes 7 and 8.

The original Star Wars trilogy had a significant time jump between the first and second movies.

However, The Last Jedi picked up in the exact same moment The Force Awakens ended.

The events of The Last Jedi saw few of the rebellion still alive, having barely escaped Crait with their lives.

One who failed to escape was Luke, who died after projecting himself with the force to distract Kylo Ren to give his friends time to escape.

His death, however, has not marked the end of his appearance in the trilogy as Mark Hamill has been included in the Episode 9 cast.

Two other people to escape by the skin of their respective teeth were Leia and Rose Tico.

The former, played by the late, great Carrie Fisher will appear in Episode 9 via unused footage from The Force Awakens.

Rose was in a bad way, left unconscious after saving Finn from self-sacrifice.

A time jump would allow time for both of them to heal well enough to hit the ground of Episode 9 running.

Whatever happens, fans will be paying attention to Episode 9 with a keen eye for detail and high expectations.
