Star Wars: Jar Jar Binks actor thanks ‘kind’ fans after sharing his suicide struggle

Last week the Star Wars prequel trilogy actor bravely opened up about he almost committed suicide after a media backlash to his Jar Jar Binks performance.

Following supportive responses from fans and celebrities, Best has now tweeted his great thanks in return.

He wrote: “Thank you all for your love and kindness. It’s been overwhelming.”

He then referenced plans to work on his new solo show, which might include the story of his struggles.

He continued: “I’m gonna start writing this show.

“Gonna need help cause I’ve never done this before. I will be trying stuff out and posting it here.

“Let folks know. Thanks for all your support. It means so very much to me.”

The 44-year-old’s original tweet read: “20 years next year I faced a media backlash that still affects my career today.”

It continued: “This was the place I almost ended my life. It’s still hard to talk about.

“I survived and now this little guy is my gift for survival.

“Would this be a good story for my solo show? Lemme know.”

In response, some members of the Star Wars family reached out to the Jar Jar Binks actor with support.

The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson wrote: “Lots of love to you Ahmed. I think there are many of us who’d get quite a lot from hearing your story.

While Yoda actor Frank Oz said: “I LOVED Jar Jar Binks.”
