Tim Burton Dumbo release: How to watch Dumbo trailer online. Cast, plot and more
Tim Burton was announced as the director of Disney’s live-action adaptation of the 1941 animated movie way back in March 2015.
Two and a half years later, the official teaser trailer for Dumbo has finally been released.
You can catch the first glimpse of the live-action Dumbo adaptation above.
Who is in Tim Burton’s live-action Dumbo?
The recently released trailer shows Colin Farrell as the former circus star attraction Holt Farrier.
Initially, Will Smith was in talks to play Dumbo’s human protagonist.
After Smith passed, Chris Pine and Casey Affleck were also offered the role.
They too passed and finally Colin Farrell was cast.
Farrier is a war veteran with only one arm, whose children befriend Dumbo.
His children are played by Nico Parker (Milly Farrier, the daughter) and Finley Hobbins (Joe Farrier, the son).
Farrier is hired by Max Medici, the head of a small-time circus to look after the baby elephant.
Medici is played by Danny Devito, who also appears in the trailer in a red jacket and bow tie.
Medici’s circus is acquired by an entrepreneur named V. A. Vandemere, played by Michael Keaton.
Vandemere’s goal is to exploit Dumbo for all he’s worth, no matter the cost.
The Dumbo trailer features a brief appearance by Eva Green, as a French trapeze artist named Colette Marchant.
What is the plot of Tim Burton’s live-action Dumbo?
The plot of the live-action Dumbo will feel familiar to those who know the original.
IMDB describes the plot as: “Holt Farrier, once a circus star, went off to war and when he returned it had terribly altered him.
“Circus owner Max Medici hires him to take care of Dumbo, a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him the laughing stock of the struggling circus troupe.
“When Holt’s children discover that Dumbo can fly, silver-tongued entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere and aerial artist Colette Marchant swoop in to make the little elephant a star.”
The trailer only offers a glimpse at how Burton will tackle the psychedelic pink elephant scene, but if a live action version of that trippy dream had to be made, Burton seems like an apt choice to do it.
When is Tim Burton’s live-action Dumbo released?
Tim Burton’s live-action version of the Disney classic Dumbo will be released Friday, 29 March 2019.
