Tragic Bradley’s mum slams sick trolls over charity cash smears
Heartbroken parents Gemma and Carl set up the Bradley Lowery Foundation, along with a number of trustees, to continue the legacy of her youngster.
But she was left in tears after anonymous Facebook posts claimed her family were enjoying a “luxury lifestyle” and that “the truth will be out soon”.
Now her foundation has hit back at the unfounded slurs by announcing plans to publish its accounts on social media.
Yesterday Gemma, of Blackhall Colliery, County Durham, fumed: “The comment upset me. I couldn’t stop crying all day.
“I’ve had messages off other charities that are getting the same abuse. It is so sad people feel the need to put people down in this way.”
Explaining how they are having an audit next week to prove the trolls wrong, she added: “I can’t wait until it is published. “
“Anybody in their right mind knows every penny donated stays with the charity.
“It’s a shame we have to justify ourselves when we are working 16 hour days.”
Bradley touched the lives of millions with his brave fight, notably striking up a close bond with star player Jermain Defoe while the England international played for Sunderland.
Foundation spokeswoman Lynn Murphy said it had received numerous trolling messages but the accusation of a “luxury lifestyle” had prompted a response.
She said: “Cremating a child is not a life of luxury, it’s a life of torment and grief.
“The foundation is not about us, it’s about raising awareness for these children and their illnesses. Bradley did all of this, we’re just helping to carry it on.”
