Royal stye rules are set by the head of the Royal Family, the Queen, 92.

And it seems Her Majesty does not like a certain type of shoe, meaning you will never see either of the two women in them.

According to Vanity Fair, the Queen does not like wedges, so for official events neither Kate Middleton, 36, or Meghan Markle, 36, will wear them.

A source told the magazine: “The Queen isn’t a fan of wedged shoes. She really doesn’t like them and it’s well known among the women in the family.”

But eagle-eyed royal fans may have noticed one of the two women is a royal rule breaker.

Risking the Queen’s disapproval, Kate does wear the footwear occasionally.

She donned a pair during a visit to the Oval Maidan in Mumbai, India during a Royal tour and also for a visit to the Solomon Islands.

The Duchess was also seen in a pair at a Sports Aid Trust charity event.

Meghan, however, has kept to the rules so far and tends to only wear stilettos.

As both women started life as non-royals before marrying in to the family, they have plenty in common. But are they friends?

Kate and Meghan share the quality of loyalty, according to a comparative analysis of their handwriting.

“[They] are both genuinely loyal to the ones they feel closest to,” according to Jamie Mason Cohen.

Kate, particularly, is loyal to “her family”, the expert told Express.co.uk.

“She is extremely loyal to her family and close friends. She has had some of the same friends for many years.

“She displays a high degree of loyalty in her relationships.”

“Her family and friends confide in her because she is a warm, empathetic listener whose sensitivity helps her relate and understand others’ pain.”

Meghan is a little different in how she shows her loyalty, said Jamie.

While Kate is “loyal and trusting”, Meghan is “loyal but has trust issues and takes her much longer to let people in to see the real her”.
