Wonder Woman is both an unrivalled force of superhuman strength and the grace of a warrior, and a genuinely compassionate humanitarian.

The daughter of Queen Hippolyta and the god Zeus, Diana was raised on the hidden island of Themyscira, home to the Amazonian warrior women created by Zeus to protect mankind.

Gal Gadot, the now iconic actress who played Wonder Woman in the 2017 movie, described the character as relatable.

She said: “She has the heart of a human and is very compassionate, but her experiences—or lack of them, her naivete, really—make her interested in everything around her and able to view the world in a way that we’d all like to: with a genuine curiosity.”

But what are Wonder Woman’s powers?

As an Amazonian warrior, and daughter of a god, Diana Prince’s powers are wide-ranging.

She is a dynamic athlete, acrobat, fighter and strategist with plenty of training in ancient and modern forms of combat, of course including Amazonian martial arts.

Wonder Woman can heal faster than normal humans as it was part of the Amazonian tribes’ birthright to consume water from Paradise Island’s Fountain of Eternal Youth.

In addition to her natural abilities, Wonder Woman has bullet-stopping bracelets and wields a golden lasso.

The bracelets give her extra strength, but even without them she has super-human powers.

Wonder Woman’s Lasso of Truth compels anyone who comes into contact with it to tell the absolute truth and is virtually indestructible.

A comic iteration of the character had her capable of bench pressing 15,000 pounds, and in one of her earliest appearances, she is shown running easily at 60 mph (97 km/h).

During a comic event called The Crisis on Infinite Earths, Wonder Woman develops other powers and enhance her current ones.

Like Superman, Wonder Woman is highly resistant to concussive force and extreme temperatures, and because of her divine origins, Diana can resist many forms of magical manipulation.

Not to mention she’s got an invisible jet she can control with her mind, a razor-edged tiara, and a magical sword forged by Hephaestus that is sharp enough to cut the electrons off an atom.

It’s almost impossible to defeat Superman in a fight, so impossible that some fans have deemed Superman too powerful.

Given Wonder Woman’s abilities, though, and her sword is not only capable of cutting electrons off atoms, it also can cut Superman.

With all things considered, our money is on Wonder Woman.
