X Factor winner Matt Terry releases first ‘proper’ single: LISTEN to Sucker For You
Terry, 24, was mentored by Nicole Scherzinger on last year’s show and finished in poll position ahead of Saara Aalto.
Sucker For You marks his first single as the headline act since winner’s track When Christmas Comes Around; which reached No3.
He has since collaborated with Enrique Iglesias on Subeme La Radio, which peaked at No10 over the summer.
“I wrote it with these producers called The Family in Sweden,” he told OfficialCharts.com.

“The whole album is about my life over the last year and a half. It’s about being at the start of a relationship and how everything’s great, then it starts to crack, then Sucker For You comes in just after that.
“It’s about knowing you love someone more than they love you. Even though they’re f**king up and not being a great partner, you’re sticking with them and basically being a bit of a loser.”
His fans have reacted positively to the track, with one tweeting: “THIS IS SO GOOD, MATT I LOVE YOU.”
Another caps-lock enthusiast posted: “ITS LITERALLY SUCH A BOP I LOVE IT.”
Incidentally this is the third time out of three that Terry has gone head-to-head with One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson.
Tomlinson’s Steve Aoki collaboration Just Hold On had a chart clash with When Christmas Comes Around, while Subeme La Radio was released in tandem with Tomlinson’s Back To You.
Now, the mid-hiatus boyband star has brought out Just Like You – at the same time as Terry’s Sucker For You.
Currently Tomlinson has the sales edge, perhaps – in part – because it came out several hours earlier. At time of writing, iTunes shows Just Like You at No14 and Sucker For You at No78. Both tracks are still on the ascent.
Of his upcoming album, out in November, Terry told the Daily Star Online: “Most of the songs are written by me.
“Two or three were sent to me and I thought they fitted in perfectly with the rest of the record.
“It’s definitely open and honest, it’s all about my last relationship.”
It’s a tough climate for X Factor winners now: 2015 winner Louisa Johnson still hasn’t released her album, nearly two years after her victory.
She also hasn’t hit the Top 10 as a main artist since her winner’s single peaked at No9 – in fact her most recent cut, Best Behaviour, charted outside the Top 40 despite strong reviews.
Ben Haenow, meanwhile, parted ways with Simon Cowell’s label soon after releasing his own LP.
