Avengers 4 leak: These pictures show HOW Iron Man, Thor and Captain America time travel

As soon as Infinity War ended and that symbol appeared on screen, the questions began.

Surely Marvel can’t leave all thos major heroes dead? If Captain Marvel is coming, where has she been? Is she really gong to travel from the 1990s, where her upcoming movie will be set?

Then new pictures emerged of the original Avengers seemingly in the New York battle from the first Avengers movie.

Why are they all wearing ‘time travel’ wrist devices? 

Thor, Captain America and Tony Stark are all shown with nifty gadgets on their wrists. The first two are clearly from the past since Thor has long hair and normal eyes and Steve Rogers is in his first brightly coloured Cap costume.

The devices clearly have something to do with it and fans are convinced they are new technology designed by Hank Pym. The Ant-Man creator (played by Michael Douglas) discovered a way to enter the Quantum Realm with his Pym Particles. The devices also bear a striking resemblance to the time travel one just use by Cable in Deadpool 2.

But one huge part of this theory doesn’t make sense.

One fan posted the images and said: “Based on set pictures, the current fan-theory is that Tony Stark will use time travel to try and stop Thanos in Avengers 4. These photos of Ant-man with the 2012 Avengers, wearing some sort of wrist device makes the theory reasonable.”

If they have time travelled back from the present to change the past, though, why do they look like their old selves?

Alternately, if Ant-Man alone travelled back in time to speak to the Avengers back then, why do they all need to wear the devices if the others are simply from that time period?

All the Infinity War filmmakers have stressed that the deaths in that movie are real, implying they will not be changed. This also knocks out the time travel theory since they could rewrite history and the deaths would never have happened.

It looks increasingly likely that the need for the deaths to remain permanent, combined with Captain Marvel’s comicbook links to alternate dimensions and the Ant-Man exploration of the same in the Quantum Realm must actually lead to an alternate new timeline in another dimension.

Everyone stays dead in the original universe but are saved in the alternate one.

If your head isn’t hurting enough, it still needs to figure out why everyone is wearing those wrist devices though…
