Avengers Endgame sequel: ‘Future MCU movie has scenes set in First World War’

Marvels fans will know that Marvel Cinematic Universe films feature different phases representing narrative arcs. And currently, we’re in Phase 3, which will be concluded by Avengers Endgame next April. After this, Spider-Man Far From Home will kick off Phase 4 which has many movies yet to be officially announced. As it stands we know Marvel Studios are producing a Black Widow solo movie, The Eternals, Shang-Chi, Doctor Strange 2, Black Panther 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.

And now it sounds like one of these movies, or perhaps another which hasn’t been announced yet, will have scenes set in the First World War.

The is the claim of website BadTaste.it, which highlights a report from Italian newspaper Il Saviglianese.

BadTaste writes: “According to the newspaper the castle and the historic centre of Racconigi, in the province of Cuneo, will be in the background to some scenes for a Marvel blockbuster that will be filmed between April and May 2019.

“The story should be set in the years of the First World War – reads – with a fantastic review of the attack in Sarajevo.”

They added: “Unless there are surprises, the next films from Phase 4 of the Marvel Universe will be Black Widow and The Eternals, so it should be one of these projects.

“Il Saviglianese confirms that the director (or the director in the case of Black Widow) has already made an inspection in the city.”

With the film dates in mind, it sounds like this is most likely a flashback scene for the Black Widow solo movie.

The Scarlett Johansson-led prequel is likely to be released in May 2020.

Prior to her debut in 2010’s Iron Man 2, Marvel fans will know Scarlett’s Natasha Romanov was a KGB agent in the late 1990s.

Set to be something of a spy thriller, Black Widow will probably be a more family-friendly version of Jennifer Lawrence’s Red Sparrow.

History buffs will know that the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in June 1914, is considered the main catalyst in the start of the First World War.

Perhaps Black Widow will have something to do with a conspiracy surrounding that event.
