Batman movie: First look at Andy Serkis as PENGUIN – Who needs Ben Affleck?

The endless mystery surrounding the Batffleck (or eternally Sadffleck) continues to drag on. Will Affleck stay or go?

Whatever he decides, it seems that a Batman standalone movie is still moving ahead with Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves at the helm.

Whoever eventually dons the cape, Variety film editor Justin Kroll is already reporting that one of Gotham’s iconic bad guys will be waddling back on screen as the main villain.

There is only one man on everyone’s lps to play the part and the first image of Serkis in the top hat and monocle seals the deal.

Serkis unforgettably collaborated with Reeves on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and the final movie in the trilogy, War for the Planet of the Apes.

In a career bulging with legendary motion capture triumphs from Gollum to Snoke, Sekis has openly said that his work as ape leader Caesar is his finest.

He recently raved about his hopes to work with Reeves on the Batman movie.

Serkis said: “Oh, for sure! I mean, I’d go to the edge of the created universe with Matt [Reeves].” 

Serkis added: “I mean, he’s the most brilliant director. I would work with anything with him again, y’know, I mean, I absolutely adore him and we’re very good friends, close friends, and I think he’s an extraordinary director so for sure.”

Fan sites and news agencies are already building hopes that this will mean Serkis steps into the Batman movie.

Bosslogic has famously created artwork around the DC and Marvel movie universes and wasted no time with his own interpretation which is already causing a sensation online.

The artist wrote: “After hearing the news that the standalone Batman movie may have The Penguin as the main villain and also hearing that Andy Serkis would like to do a DC role, I thought he would be a dope cast that would bring in his unique take on the character.”

Kroll also added that evenif Penguin does not end up in the Batman movie, he is also being considered for Margot Robbie’s upcoming Birds of Prey blockbuster about the bad girls of Gotham.

Serkis is a strong contender, either way, but he may have stiff competition in the form of Josh Gad.
