Beyonce sings in Spanish in new charity single
Beyonce has released a new single to raise funds for those affected by a series of hurricanes from the Caribbean and an earthquake in Mexico.
Titled “Mi Gente” – which translates as “My People” from Spanish – the single features Beyonce singing in Spanish, French and English, the languages spoken in many of the areas hit by the hurricanes.
The track, which is a a remix of J Balvin and Willy William’s song of the same name, was released Thursday night.
In an English verse, Beyonce sings: “Lift up your people, from Texas Puerto Rico, dem islands to Mexico.”
Beyonce, who had twins earlier this year, said she will donate the proceeds from the song to relief efforts.
The single is released after the biggest names in American entertainment took part in a telethon to raise money for victims of hurricanes which have ravaged the US and Caribbean.
Beyonce’s website also directs fans to fundraising campaigns for victims of the Mexican earthquakes, Hurricanes Maria and Irma in the Caribbean and Florida, and Hurricane Harvey in her native Texas.
