Can Prince Harry run for Prime Minister? Meghan Markle husband for UK leader role?

Prince Harry has inspired many during recent years.

Stepping into his role as a member of the Royal Family, the prince has dedicated himself to a number of causes.

He is passionate about charity work in Lesotho, Africa.

The royal also raised awareness of HIV testing with singer Rihanna and created the Invictus Games.

Harry is evidently passionate about the greater good, as is his wife Meghan Markle – so is it possible he could run for Prime Minister?

According to the rules and regulations around who can become prime minister there is nothing officially stopping Harry from running.

Parliament states: “People wishing to stand as an MP must be over 18 years of age, be a British citizen or citizen of a Commonwealth country or the Republic of Ireland.”

Harry ticks all of these boxes.

In order to stand Harry would have to be nominated by a party, or run independently, and pay a £500 deposit to do so.

People in certain posts are not able to become an MP.

These include civil servants, members of police forces, members of the armed forces and judges.

However, there is no mention of royalty.

Prince Harry was once a member of the armed forces, but he is not now meaning he could run.

But would the prince ever consider it?

Royal Butler Grant Harrold, who was a butler for HRH Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry, told Express.co.uk: “It’s very unlikely, the reason being since Prince Charles the royals don’t get involves in politics, for obvious reasons.

“He would never run for prime minster, I wouldn’t think so.”

The there is one element of becoming prime minister that Prince Harry would find a breeze.

Those who are elected in a general election have to ask the Queen to form a goverment.

It is likely Prince Harry wouldn’t have problem getting permission from his grandma.
