UPDATE: LADBABY CONFIRMED AS UK XMAS NUMBER ONE. Once upon a time it was a big cheesy crowd-pleaser which would dominate the Christmas charts. Then the X Factor had a long reign at the top. These days it is far more umpredictable and until very recently its eemed liek a straight race between chart queen Ariana Grande and new pop princess pretender Ava Max. Until LadBaby’s sausage-roll-fuelled charity single reworking of Starship’s We Built This City suddenly started to gather support.

The Official Chart Companty will make the big announcement at 6pm today.

However, UK bookies William Hill have already accepted defeat and revealed the winner.

A press release statement from spokesman Rupert Adams said: “Bookmakers William Hill can report that the LadBaby Christmas Number One result was their worst result is almost a decade.

“LadBaby has produced an early Christmas present for a bucket load of our customers and the industry will be paying out a six figure sum today. The last time we got done as badly was Rage Against The Machine in 2009.”

This seems to confirm chart-topping triumph for the LadBaby ‘dad blogger’ Mark Hoyle, who reworked Starship’s 1985 hit and catchy chorus as a love song to sausage rolls – rather than rock and roll.

Proceeds from sales of the song go to food bank charity The Trussell Trust and Hoyle coudln’t contacin his excitement when he was placed at Number Two in teh mid-week charts.

He said: “Yes maaaaate! Who would have thought it? A sausage roll song being sung by a Nottingham lad would be sitting at Number 2 in the Official midweek Singles Chart?! What a fantastic achievement and great START… but let’s not stop there!!

“Let’s pinch that Number 1 spot from the global mega stars, eat our own body weight in sausage rolls AND most importantly raise even more money to support the amazing UK food banks charity Trussell Trust this Christmas!”

Expect even more excitement if he really has defeated Ariana Grande and Ava Max.

The 2018 Christmas Number One will be announced at 5:45 pm by Scott Mills on BBC Radio One.

The official chart announcement will be revealed at 6pm today.
