Those word-famous Islands in the Stream will sail away together one last time later this year.

It will be an iconic and heartbreaking moment as two of the greatest Country and Western stars of all time say farewell on stage.

Dolly Parton was already honoured earlier this yeara the Country Music Awards and now Kenny Rogers will receive a lifetime tribute on October 25.

It will be only the third time in the last 27 years that the duo have sung together on stage – and they have confirmed it will definitely be their last.

Rogers said: “We do love it when we get a chance to be together. She’s everything that everybody thinks she is – and more. I’m so excited about her being there…

“This will be our last time on stage – forever. It will be worthwhile to come and see that.”

Dolly said: “Performing with Kenny for the last time ever on October 25 is going to be emotional for both of us, but it’s also going to be very special.”

Rogers has announced his retirement after seven decades in the music industry.

The 78-year-old has sold more than 100 million records and is one of the biggest stars in Country music.

As well as enormous success on teh Country musiccharts, he also enjoyed major hits in the US and UK pop charts with songs like Lucille, Ruby Don’t Take Your Love to Town, Coward of the County, Long Arm of the Law and The Gambler.

Other stars who will appear at the Nashville tribute concert include Broadway and Frozen star Idina Menzel, Alison Krauss and the Flaming Lips.

Rogers said: “It strikes me as something for me to get together with a lot of the people I have met over the years, and say goodbye legitimately.”

Dolly added: “Even though Kenny may be retiring, as he fades from the stage, our love for each other will never fade away.”
