In fairness to the movie, it had primarily been pushed on digital on-demand platforms, pushing the emphasis away from cinemas.

And only one cinema did actually screen it: the Reel Cinema in Burnley, where only one person turned up.

That film is Man Down – a war thriller fronted by Shia LaBeouf.

ComScore reports that it grossed a meagre £7, which adds up with it being just the one ticket, with the average price of a cinema seat in the UK currently standing at £7.21.

“Poor Shia,” Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at ComScore, remarked; according to The Wrap.

“That opening could be in the Guinness World Records or something.”

Man Down actually had its release at the Venice Film Festival way back in September 2015, before finding its way to the US last December.

It’ll now be released on DVD and Blu-ray on May 22.

In our own review, our critic said: “If only everything in Man Down was as good as Shia LaBeouf’s emotionally-charged performance.

“The ingredients of science fiction, family drama and war movie never really gel and that’s before a plot twist that tugs at the heartstrings and undermines credibility.”

Man Down is out now.
