Losing weight can be quite the challenge, but there is one expert trick to help you to jumpstart the process.

Cutting out all your favourite foods from your diet is often doomed for failure.

So experts suggest swapping out one common category of food for a healthier alternative can help you shed unwanted belly fat.

The key, according to one weight loss professional, is to reduce intake of refined carbs and replace them with better options.

Lucy Jones, a dietitian and Chief Clinical Officer at Oviva, a weight management provider in the United Kingdom,  that eating fewer “refined carbs” can give you a huge assist in the battle of the bulge.

While both options are healthy, wholegrain alternatives can aid in the weight loss process.

A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition compared a group of wholegrain consumers to those who consumed none.

While the refined carb group lost slightly more weight, the wholegrain group experienced a significant reduction in abdominal fat.
