Solo: A Star Wars Story is currently in cinemas and may be the reason there will be no further releases from a galaxy far, far away outside the traditional Xmas period.

Although it has been more warmly received than The Last Jedi, it has underperformed at the international box office.

Episode 9 already has a December 2019 date locked in, though, and will start principal photography this July.

Solo only released its trailers months before it hit cinemas but fans can expect a first look at the final movie in the main three-trilogy cycle later this autumn, over a year before it is released.

Star Wars commentators are confident the first teaser will arrive in November.

This follows the previous pattern, established by JJ Abrams’ Episode 7.

Mike Zeroh said: “I think they will do something similar to The Force Awakens. Since they are filming from July, they will have enough footage by November to put together a short teaser.”The same happened in November 2014. A trailer dropped just before Thanksgiving. We’ll get the official trailer in April 2019 during Star Wars Celebration in Chicago.”

Thanksgiving 2018 in the US is on Thursday, November 22.

Yesterday the new working title was revealed for Episode 9. It is the rather mysterious ‘TrIXie.’

Zeroh added: “We will probably learn the official title as we enter post-production which is aimed for large 2018 to early 2019. Filming begins at the end of July and it is expected they will be filming for six months.”

After a rocky fan reception for The Last Jedi and a rocky box office preformance for Solo, Episode 9 has a lot to prove.

Not only does it have to handle to unexpected sudden loss of Carrie Fisher and Princess Leia, it has a lot of alienated fans to please.

Although Rian Johnson’s bold new vision upset many fans, other also felt JJ Abrams’ Episode 7 was a little too derivative.

We will have to wait until November for a first glimpse of how Disney and Lucasfilm will bring the entire saga home.
