Star Wars 9 leak: Crew members 'in TEARS' over this – Can Episode IX heal fan backlash?
In December this year, over forty years of Star Wars films, books, comics and TV series will culminate in the final episode of the Skywalker triple trilogy. No pressure, then, for director JJ Abrams. Especially since Rian Johnson and The Last Jedi divided the fandom more than even midichlorians or a certain Mr Binks ever managed. Leaks have been pouring out since production started last August. The latest describes the reactions of crew members from both sides of the rift to what is being filmed right now.
A post on Reddit by user ThrowAnother9 was swiftly taken down, but naturally has already been replicated and reported elsewhere on the internet.
StarWarsNewNet posted: “ThrowAnother9 also discussed multiple impressions from the set of the film, which is apparently the first time he’s ever been on a Star Wars set. He refused to spoil anything, given that jobs would be on the line if he did, but he was willing to share that two co-workers that are longtime fans of the franchise and Legends material – one of whom enjoyed The Last Jedi, and one who decidedly did not – were both immensely satisfied with the footage that was coming together.
“As in, ‘tears of joy’ satisfied. That’s some high praise. He also noted that this praise didn’t mean that fans would like absolutely everything in the film, but it certainly seems like Lucasfilm is happy with the film.”
This will be a huge relief for fans on both sides.
Despite some radically opposing views, everybody wants a successful and satisfying Episode 9.
The hype is reaching fever pitch as the first official teaser trailer approaches, when the fandom and critics will finally be able to see the first clues to how Abrams will bring home the biggest franchise in popular entertainment.
There had been compelling reports something might be released over Christmas but now ever sign is pointing to a certain major date in February.
The 2019 Super Bowl now seems the obvious place for Star Wars 9 to debut the teaser.
Everyone is waiting to see how both Leia and Luke Skywalker will be brought back, and what is next for Rey and Kylo Ren.
The biggest night in US television takes place on February 3, meaning fans hopefully have three weeks to wait…
