JK Simmons, who will play Jim Gordon, is set to make his DC debut this year in Justice League – and has let slip that the sequel to that film may even come before The Batman.

Speaking to Screen Crush, he admitted that while it was thought that the caped crusader’s next adventure would start work “pretty soon”, that may now not be the case.

“My part in the first film coming out this fall is very, very small… It’s a little introduction of the character,” he explained.

“But whenever the next one gets off the ground, whether it’s The Batman movie or the Justice League sequel, and I know those things are getting shuffled around right now…

“We thought we might be getting to work pretty soon on The Batman, but we’ll see what the future brings.

“Hopefully that’ll be another comic-book character that I get to take two or three or four cracks at.”

A new teaser for Justice League was unveiled today ahead of the movie’s release later in the year.

A full trailer is expected to follow suit on Saturday.
