That is the verdict of Robbie Savage, who was previewing the two Premier League rivals ahead of their crunch clash at Wembley later today (12.30pm).

have made an excellent start to the campaign, collecting 12 points from their first four matches and have been defensively solid too, conceding just once.

Tottenham on the other hand will be eager to bounce back after their disappointing 2-1 reverse away to Watford last weekend.

Klopp will be desperate for revenge after his side were on the receiving end of a 4-1 thrashing at Wembley in the corresponding future last season which saw Harry Kane grab a double for the hosts.

Liverpool have been continually talked up as the side most likely to challenge for the title, and under Klopp, they have picked up more points against the league’s biggest six at an average of just over 1.5 points per game.

While Klopp has last his last six finals as a manager, Savage thinks it is a matter of time before he gets his hands on a trophy.

“Jurgen [Klopp] will land his first trophy in English football before Mauricio [Pochettino] – because he is a man for the major occasion,” Savage wrote in his column for the Daily Mirror while discussing the credentials of the two managers.

“Big games bring the best out of top managers, and since Klopp took over at Liverpool in October 2015, he has a better record in matches against top-six rivals than anyone.

“That tells me Liverpool get fired up by Klopp when the stakes are highest, and it’s dropped points against the so-called lesser teams which will determine if they can overhaul Manchester City to be this season’s champions.

“This game with Tottenham is a meeting of the club who spent nothing in the summer on new players – not a penny! – and the biggest spenders of all, after Liverpool’s £170million investment on reinforcements.

“Do Klopp and Pochettino need to win a trophy this season? Sooner or later, they will need to break their duck.”

Savage also reckons Liverpool are primed to make an assault on the league and Champions League this term.

He added: “I don’t think Pochettino is under pressure yet. Tottenham will be content for him to deliver another top-four finish and christen the club’s new stadium with Champions League football.

“But I think Liverpool are well-stocked for the twin challenges of a title race and Champions League campaign ahead.

“Klopp has already proved he can win the title when the odds are stacked against him with Borussia Dortmund, despite Bayern Munich being as powerful in German football as City are in England now.

“His teams will often serve up free-flowing, free-scoring, ‘heavy metal’ football to blow teams away, though it’s the chiselling out the scrappy 1-0 wins, like the one against Brighton, which will make the difference here.”

Spurs will be without Dele Alli (hamstring) and captain Hugo Loris (thigh) for their meeting with the Reds.
