That is the bold claim of Sky Sports pundit Tim Sherwood, who delivered his verdict on after their 4-0 win over Red Star Belgrade in the group stages.

Salah helped himself to a double, including one from the spot, while his strike partners Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane were also on target.

The Reds reached the Champions League final last term, but they were thrashed 3-1 by Real Madrid in Kiev.

Although the likes of Salah have struggled to show so far the devastating form of last campaign, Jurgen Klopp’s men have looked formidable over the past few months.

And Sherwood fancies the Reds’ chances of reaching the European Cup final again, although he stopped short of suggesting whether or not they will win it.

“Liverpool have got such attacking threat,” Sherwood said on The Debate about the Anfield’s chances of doing well in the competition.

“They have got a work ethic, an identity of what the manager wants and they stick to it.

“They stick to the plan even when it’s not going perfectly right and they get the job done.

“Klopp is one top manager and he’s played a lot of games in the Champions League.

“Last year they got to the final – I think they’re on their way again.

“I’m really impressed with Liverpool. When they’re not playing at their best, they get the job done.

“They’ve got quality players in Salah to get a couple of goals and it’s a massive shot in the arm for Klopp moving forward this season.”

Salah, meanwhile, notched up his 49th and 50th goals in a Reds shirt in the victory over Belgrade.

Discussing the win and his milestone, he said: “It was an important game. We knew the game was going to be tough.

“The most important thing was the three points.

“It’s great – I’m happy to score my 50th goal for Liverpool.

“We know how to play with each other and know our qualities.”

Liverpool top Group C with six points from three matches.
