Godzilla 2 King of Monsters new TRAILER: Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah are here – WATCH

Warner Bros’ MonsterVerse continues to grow following the release of 2014’s Godzilla and Kong: Skull Island last year. Next up is Godzilla 2: King of Monsters, which sees the giant sea monster take on Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah. The film’s official synopsis reads: “The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.”

The end credits scene begins with a black screen as Tom Hiddleston’s Conrad amusingly asks: “Why are we just still sitting here in a dark room?”

After the fourth-wall break, the lights come on and we find Conrad and Brie Larson’s Mason in an interrogation room where they promise not to reveal any of the giant horrors they witnessed on Skull Island.

The two leads are joined by Houston and San from earlier in the film, who reveals that Kong isn’t the only monster around.

Earlier in the film, it was revealed that ancient monsters live beneath the earth and could return at any moment.

Houston then hands them a file before clicking through a slide of cave drawings featuring some of the Kaiju film genre’s most famous beasts.

The pictures tease Mothra, a colossal sentient caterpillar and Rodan, a giant winged reptile.

Finally, we see King Ghidorah, an enormous three-headed dragon, battling Godzilla himself – before the latter roars as the screen turns to black.

Godzilla II King of Monsters will be released in UK cinemas in May 2019.
