Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will visit Edinburgh on February 13th during a pre-Valentine’s Day trip to the country.

The prince and his fiancee will visit a social enterprise cafe and celebrate youth in the Scottish Year of Young People 2018 during a day of engagements.

Kensington Palace said the couple will have the opportunity to meet members of the public and learn more about organisations that work in the local community during the visit on Tuesday February 13.

While in Edinburgh they will also visit Edinburgh Castle, where they will be officially welcomed to the city by the Royal Marines Scotland Band and then watch the One O’clock Gun being fired inside the castle.

The couple will then move on to the New Town to visit Social Bite, a social enterprise cafe which distributes 100,000 items of food and hot drinks to homeless people across Scotland each year.

They will then attend a reception making the Scottish Year of Young People at the Palace of Holyroodouse.

Kensington Palace today confirmed Ms Markle will join Harry on his trip, which takes place on Shrove Tuesday

They tweeted: “Prince Harry and Ms. Markle will visit Edinburgh on 13th February, where they will attend engagements at @edinburghcastle, local social enterprise @SocialBite_, and a reception celebrating youth achievement to mark Scottish Year of Young People at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.”

It is currently unknown whether the royals will spend February 14th in Edinburgh, which is about 400 miles north of London, or if they will return to Nottingham Cottage after their visit.

But Meghan has previously revealed her affinity for the romantic celebration in a post on her former lifestyle blog, The Tig.

She wrote: “Hook, line and sinker, I am such a sucker for Valentine’s Day.

“Without fail, every February 14th, I wake up feeling like I’m immersed in a Robert Doisneau photo, waiting with bated breath to be dipped into a kiss.

“This is all happening in black and white, of course. And in Paris, if I had my way.

“But delusions of francophile grandeur aside, Valentine’s Day is special wherever you happen to find yourself.

“And in terms of gifts, be it breakfast in bed, a sweet love note, or a single flower, it really is the thought that counts.”

The pair are set to wed on May 19 after announcing their engagement several weeks ago.

Their wedding will be held at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
