Fifty Shades Freed’s Dakota Johnson reveals frustrations: ‘Projects I want don’t exist’

The actress played Ana Steele in the erotic trilogy, starring alongside Jamie Dornan’s Christian Grey.

Now, as she makes her way through a range of exciting new ventures, she has said that she opened up a production company in order to make the work she really wants to do.

“I’ve come to terms with the fact that the projects I want to work on don’t exist, so I’m going to have to create them for myself,” she told Elle.

“I feel incredibly grateful that I’m in a position to do that.”

She went on to admit that amidst her full slate of work, “there are many more experiences to have. It’s really good to still be learning the thing I love.”

Such projects include a new thriller with Armie Hammer, which is currently in production and has been fast-tracked towards release next spring.

Johnson will also be seen in Suspiria, which she said “no lie, f**ked me up so much that I had to go to therapy.”

The actress had previously opened up about the logistics of the huge number of sex scenes she had to film when shooting the Fifty Shades dramas.

“It’s super not glamorous—it’s really unsexy,” she said, revealing a strapless sticky thong she was tasked with wearing.

“It’s not glue, but it’s sticky. They’re, like, basically if it were a nipple pastie, but underwear.

“But it’s only sticky at the top, it’s not sticky the whole way.”

Awkwardly, the stickiness wasn’t totally effective, she added.

“It would also come off because the adhesive would wear out, so then they would superglue it to my body so that it wouldn’t fall off,” the star went on.

“And I would wear two of them. It’s not painful, I mean, it’s barely anything. But I guess you have some sense of being covered. It’s f**king bizarre.”
