Royal Ascot is well into its third day, also known as Gold Cup Day or Ladies Day.

Arriving in the hot sun, Princess Eugenie, 28, and Princess Beatrice, 29, were clearly looking to turn heads in the fashion department – competing for best dressed amongst hoarse of other ladies attending the day.

Known for their unusual fashion choices, especially when it comes to hats, the two daughters of the Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson didn’t fail to disappoint.

Bride-to-be Eugenie looked summery in a high neck, floaty floral midi-dress, cinched in at the wait.

Not conducive to the heat of the day, Eugenie’s dress featured a high neck with structured collar and long sleeves.

Victorian-era in style, the sleeves were puffed towards the bottom and fitted in again just above the wrists.

Befitting of the summery day, the dress had a wildflower print in purple, green and cream, with hints of yellow.

Known for her edgy sense of style, Eugenie let her personality come out in her choice of hat, which was an unusual boater-style piece with a cut away brim.

The hat, dark purple in colour, featured a top that was low in height and was covered with white flowers.

Known for her unusual hat choices when it comes to royal occasions, Eugenie’s headpiece was cut away from the base, exposing her flame-hair and the top of her head.

On her feet she worse a pair of snakeskin pointed-toe heels, with silver studding detail framing her feet.

Stepping out against reported royal protocol, Eugenie wore a dark purple nail polish on her finger nails.

Dark nail polish is reported to be a big no no for ladies in the Royal Family, with the Queen preferring a more natural, polished look.

Prince Beatrice on the other hand, also known for her daring headwear, opted for a safer style of hat for the third day of Royal Ascot.

Wearing an all black and white ensemble, the hat was turned up at the sides and places on a jaunty angle upon her head, featuring a large black flower on the right hand side.

However, she went more daring when it came to her dress, wearing a black and white, long-sleeved midi-dress with lace detailing.

Black on top and white from the waist down, the dress featured an unusual black strip down the middle, coming from her hips and going down to the hem.

She finished the look with a pair of simple black and white pointed-toe stilettos and a black clutch bag.

She wore her strawberry blonde hair straight and down, rocking a pink lip and slight smokey eye.

The Queen also arrived at Royal Ascot at the same time as her granddaughters, wearing a hot pink coat and hat and a brooch with a very special meaning.
