Avengers Infinity War director finally reveals REAL REASON Bruce Banner could NOT Hulk out

The Marvel epic kicked off with an awesome punch up between Hulk and Thanos on the Asgardian ship.

However the big green beast was overpowered by the Mad Titan and struck down, before being Bifrost-ed to Earth by a dying Heimdall.

Landing in the New York Sanctum Sanctorum, Doctor Strange and Wong discovered a de-Hulked Bruce Banner warning them that Thanos is coming for the Infinity Stones on Earth.

However when Ebony Maw arrived in search of the Time Stone, Bruce couldn’t get his Hulk on and wasn’t able to for the rest of the movie, despite attempts in Wakanda.

But the reason why has now been confirmed by Avengers Infinity War director Joe Russo.

Speaking on the home entertainment commentary, discovered by Digital Spy, he said: “This was an interesting journey we went on with Banner, trying to decide how we move him forward in the Marvel Universe.

“What makes him unique as a character is that there is a host body that is being fought over by two distinct personalities who hate each other. And both want control of the host body.”

Russo continued: “So we thought an interesting direction to take him in is what if Banner, who typically uses the Hulk to solve crisis situations, what if the Hulk were no longer interested in solving those problems for Banner?

“So that the relationship is becoming increasingly dysfunctional. That’s what’s going on here.

“People have speculated whether there was some fear on the Hulk’s part about having to face Thanos again.

“But I think ultimately what it is, is that he’s tired of playing hero to Bruce Banner.”

Concept art for Avengers 4 has already shown the return of Hulk, however he is looking slightly different.

Clothed for the first time, fans have been wondering if we’re going to be introduced as Professor Hulk, a hybrid of Bruce Banner and his big green counterpart.

Avengers 4 is released in UK cinemas on April 26, 2019.
