Doctor Strange 2: Does THIS prove the Avengers 4 sequel will release in 2020?

With the fate of our heroes in the balance before Avengers 4 arrives next year, Marvel are keeping reasonably quiet concerning future MCU movies.

Of course we know Spider-Man: Far From Home is set for a summer 2019 release followed by Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 in early 2020.

However the other two movies for 2020 remain a mystery and now it looks like one of them has been revealed.

Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson took to his Instagram to post a picture of the Sorcerer Supreme sweating and praying ala Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane.

Back in June, the producer said: “Sometimes it’s where do those characters pop up?

“[Doctor] Strange, you know, whenever we do another Strange one, which we will do, it will be a number of years from the first Strange, and yet he’s a very big part of [Avengers:] Infinity War.

“So it is just a good problem to have when you have too many beloved characters that people want to see more of, whilst keeping to our core belief that we need to keep exploring nuance and keep doing different types of things.”

But how exactly will Doctor Strange return when he turned to ash in Avengers Infinity War?

Well eagle-eyed Marvel fans will remember Doctor Strange viewed the future with the Time Stone and saw the one possible reality where the Avengers beat Thanos.

Although he willingly handed the gem over to Thanos in exchange for Tony Stark’s life, leading to his own death and that of half the universe, the wizard clearly knows what he’s doing

And after the Snap, just before he turns to ash, he says to Tony: “It was the only way.”

This clearly shows that Doctor Strange knows Thanos will now be defeated in Avengers 4, hence he’ll be resurrected somehow for Doctor Strange 2 and beyond.

Avengers 4 is set for release in UK cinemas on April 26, 2019.
