Stan “The Man” Lee may be known as the founding father of the superhero take-over of cinema we see today.

His work across a plethora of comic titles and is one of the main writers behind many of the Avengers.

Audiences didn’t have to wait long to see Lee’s cameo.

Quite near the beginning, Peter Parker (aka Spider-Man) is sitting in his school bus when his spidey-sense begins to tingle.

Parker asks his friend Ned to cause a distraction and as the dutiful friend, Ned begins to shout.

He’s drawing attention to the Q-Ship visible out of the back window of the bus.

Everyone turns their heads, including the bus driver.

The bus driver turns out to be Stan Lee, who says in a calm voice: “What’s the matter, you’ve never seen a spaceship before?”

While many fans take Stan Lee’s cameos as a well-loved trope within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there may be more to them than meets the eye.

During Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Lee’s cameo confirmed he is, in fact, the same character popping up from movie to movie within the universe.

How? Lee is actually an agent of the cosmic voyeurs known as the Watchers.

The scene in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 has him seemingly list off the variety of aliases he’s assumed to watch over the Marvel heroes.

Lee is mid-way through the list, saying he was a FedEx Delivery man, in reference to his cameo in Captain America.

This theory is only bolstered by his line in Infinity War – there is no reason a bus driver would have seen a spaceship.

Or if by some chance he had seen a UFO, the calmness of his demeanour certainly betrayed his otherworldly nature.

Stan Lee continues to appear in movies, like the recent Ant-Man and the Wasp, filming multiple cameos in one go.

Fans will have to wait How Stan Lee appears in Avengers 4, the last chapter in Marvel Phase III.
