The 35-year-old actress was initially reluctant to star in A Quiet Place.

Speaking on The Graham Norton Show last night Blunt said: “I actually didn’t want to do it to begin with.

“I’d just had our second baby and I’d done Mary Poppins so was in a state of joy.”

“But when I read the script, I really wanted to do it.”

Blunt continued: “John had already approached another actress – a good friend of mine – so I told him he had to ring her and sack her! Luckily we are still friends.”

Norton asked if Krasinski was nervous about working with his A-list wife.

He joked: “I was terrified, I’d never been on a set when she was working. I’d heard she was a diva.”

The film has been met with critical acclaim and so far has 97% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

The critical consensus reads: “A Quiet Place artfully plays on elemental fears with a ruthlessly intelligent creature feature that’s as original as it is scary – and establishes director John Krasinski as a rising talent.”

A Quiet Place is out now.
