The movie-musical has already garnered critical acclaim after its premiere at the Venice Film Festival.

With an autumnal rollout, A Star Is Born is set to take its opening weekend by storm – going head to head with Venom both in the UK and USA.

A Star Is Born comes out today, October 3, 2018, in the UK.

The movie-musical is up against Sony’s adaptation of Venom, a Marvel character.

The fan bases for both Lady Gaga and Venom have gone to battle on Twitter.

Fans of Lady Gaga are said to have flooded the social media platform with fake reviews of the Tom Hardy movie.

By increasing the perceived negative response to Venom, the fans hoped to increase A Star Is Born’s performance at the box office.

Venom fans responded in kind, tweeting their own takedowns of the movie-musical.

Though A Star Is Born had only a 42-day shoot, Cooper himself spent three years preparing for the movie.

This included a year-and-a-half of vocal training in order to perform alongside Gaga live for the film.

Cooper spoke of the movie, and his impetuous to create a new version, saying: “The broken love story in A Star Is Born kept haunting me.

“Shots kept coming into my head. I would dream about it. I realised I had to [direct it], whether it fails or not,” he shared.

“I knew I had to try, and I wound up absolutely loving it. You can’t hide when you sing.

“The best way to express love is through singing and music. I knew if I could marry that in a way, it would be special.”

A Star Is Born has toured the film festival circuit after its premiere in Venice on August 31.

Japan is the last country to get A Star Is Born, with a December 21 release date.

The official plot synopsis for A Star Is Born reads: “Seasoned musician Jackson Maine discovers — and falls in love with — struggling artist Ally.

“She has just about given up on her dream to make it big as a singer until Jackson coaxes her into the spotlight.

“But even as Ally’s career takes off, the personal side of their relationship is breaking down, as Jackson fights an ongoing battle with his own internal demons.”

A Star Is Born is out in UK cinemas on October 3, 2018.
