Avengers 4 directors tease ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 set BEFORE Infinity War’?

WARNING SPOILERS FOR AVENGERS INFINITY WAR AHEAD

A whole bunch of superhero may have turned to ash when Thanos snapped his fingers, but there’s just one issue.

Fans know Marvel have sequels planned for dead superheroes like Spider-Man, Black Panther, Doctor Strange and the Guardians of the Galaxy.

So how exactly do they get around their deaths without losing a sense of cost?

Well now directors Joe and Anthony Russo have teased Marvel Phase 4, which begins after Avengers 4, might not necessarily keep to a linear timeline.

Speaking with Huffington Post, Anthony said: “Here’s the thing, I think it’s important to remember anything is possible in the MCU.

“Just because there’s a sequel on the books doesn’t mean… people become accustomed to time moving linearly in the MCU.

“That doesn’t necessarily have to be the case. There’s a lot of very inventive ways of where the story can go from here.”

Joe Russo added: “There’s four years between Guardians 2 and Infinity War.

“That’s a long time, and a lot of Guardians stories to tell.

“Again, as Anthony said, don’t expect everything to move forward in a linear fashion in the Marvel universe.”

This is certainly possible as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 was released in 2017 but set in 2014.

However this could just be the directors being coy since Drax star Dave Bautisa has confirmed his character will return from the dead somehow.

Speaking with Collider, he said: “I got a lot of texts saying, ‘I can’t believe you’re dead, your character is dead.’ 

“They were really like heartbroken and I was like ‘I’m gonna be in [Avengers] 4. I’m gonna be in Guardians 3.’

“I don’t know how they’re bringing me back, yeah but somehow I’m going to make it because, as far as I know, I am going to be in Guardians 3, so I have to be back.”

Avengers 4 is released in UK cinemas on April 26, 2019 while Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 will follow in 2020.
