Avengers 4 theory: Do Tony Stark and Pepper Potts reunite in Avengers 4?

Avengers: Infinity War put Tony Stark at the centre of the battle against Thanos.

While fans were left with broken hearts at the end of Infinity War, many speculate their favourite heroes will soon return.

Now, with Avengers 4 reshoots rolling, fans are being treated to photos which hint at upcoming plotlines.

Gwenyth Paltrow has already fuelled fan theories by mentioning her characters eventual pregnancy – what else has her Instagram hinted at?

Do Tony Stark and Pepper Potts reunite in Avengers 4?

The final moments of Infinity War – pre-credits, that is – showed Tony Stark aka Iron Man still on planet Titan with Nebula.

And Avengers 4 reshoots intimate a reunion between Pepper Potts – still on Earth – and Stark.

Taking to Instagram, Paltrow – who plays Potts – posted a photo of herself and Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr.

She wrote the mysterious caption: “Lunchtime #pepperony.”

Fans were over the moon at the photo, hoping it signalled the two were working together on a scene.

Of course, the two could simply be on site together and having lunch during a break.

But in all likelihood, a reunion of some sorts is in the cards.

Paltrow already hinted at the eventual birth of Potts’ and Starks’ child, and how this could provide another emotional stake for Iron Man as he seeks to thwart Thanos.

Robert Downey Jr is set to suit up for the last time in Avengers 4.

Downey’s contract, like many of his original generation co-stars, is coming to an end but this isn’t the only reason for his rumoured exit.

Captain Marvel has been slated to take over the role as the face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe from Stark, a fact confirmed by Marvel boss Kevin Feige.

Avengers 4 marks the final chapter in the MCU Phase three.

Many fans have speculated the original generation of Avengers will sacrifice their lives to resurrect their fallen friends.

Some also speculate Paltrow’s reshoots mean she will be suiting up as RESCUE – a sometimes superhero name she donned in the comics.

To substantiate this theory, many fans cite the set photos of Paltrow in a motion capture suit.

Little is known about Avengers 4, but this hasn’t stopped fans from making wild speculations based on the simplest of things – like an Instagram photo.
