Avengers Infinity War: Does ‘DELETED SCENE’ hold the key to Thanos’ death in Avengers 4?

A user on the popular Reddit page MarvelStudiosSpoilers alleges that a scene exists – but was scrapped – in which Thanos kills his own mother.

The weapon he uses could well prove to be significant going forward, if the rumour is in fact true (the scene’s existence is completely unconfirmed by Marvel).

User ExNihiloReveals wrote: “The scene happens in the past. Thanos is (probaly) 16-18 yrs old in the scene.

“His mother discovered that he has a plan to kill half of the population in Titan. She tries to convince Thanos to give up with his ideas and appeals to his emotional side crying.

“So Thanos explains why his plan is necessary and guarantees that he will keep her alive. She threatens him, saying that she will talk about his ideas to the Titan’s elite and they will decide what to do with him.

“Thanos stabs [her] with THAT knife (the same that he givens to Gamora years later) and give her a last hug. The scene ends.

“Probably that scene will be in the blu-ray OR will be in A4 (in a flashback, maybe?).”

Other users have speculated that the presence of that same knife could be foreshadowing Thanos’ own downfall.

“If that’s true he’s getting killed [with] that same knife,” argued one user, while another agreed it does seem to be “foreshadowing”.

Someone else, however, made the valid observation that the knife turned to bubbles when Gamora tried to stab herself with it in Infinity War.

But if time travel or multi-universal trickery will be at play in Avengers 4, it could still be accessed somehow again.

Avengers: Infinity War has been a huge success, and recently crossed te $2 billion mark at the global box office – making Zoe Saldana, who plays Gamora, the only person to star in two $2 billion+ grossing movies; the other being Avatar.

Avengers 4 does not have a title as yet, but will pick up with several Marvel favourites having been killed by the Snap; executed when Thanos collected all of the Infinity Stones.

The blockbuster will also add to its cast the likes of Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man) and Evangeline Lilly (The Wasp).
