Avengers Infinity War: Gamora shock – did you spot this BRUTAL moment in flashback?

The character, played by Zoe Saldana, was killed by her adoptive father Thanos in order for him to obtain the Soul Stone.

But earlier in the Marvel film, viewers saw a flashback to when Thanos first took her on – as half of the people on her home planet were being killed.

Writing on Reddit, user Namcap05 noted an especially villainous move by Thanos that many may have missed.

“I watched this movie a few times and there was one scene I thought stuck out the most,” they said.

“In the flashback scene on Gamora’s homeworld where she meets Thanos for the first time, as he guides her to the temple arch Ebony Maw is forcing her people to choose a side.

“Then Thanos gives her the dual-switch knife. What I notice was that she fully grasps the knife in her right hand before she is told to balance it.

“However, the people on her right-hand side immediately die once that happens. And she balances the knife on the left hand which is the side that her people are spared.”

It’s already spectacularly evil that Thanos goes around killing so many people – but to make Gamora inadvertently choose which half of her own people should perish would be particularly dark.

Theories have been running abound as to how Gamora could potentially return in Avengers 4 – and Zoe Saldana herself has given away that she will pop up in some capacity.

Ahead of the release of Infinity War, she said in an interview that she would be back on set this October for more filming.

Asked about the final day of filming on Infinity War, she said: “It felt like a TBC [to be continued], because I know that we will all have to come back at some point and finish up the second [movie], the fourth instalment of Avengers.

“So it felt like a ‘see you later’, it didn’t feel like a formal goodbye.”

We still have a considerable wait before we get answers: Avengers 4, the official title of which is yet to be announced, will come out in May 2019.

In the meantime, viewers can head back to the MCU for Ant-Man and the Wasp in July, and Captain Marvel next March.
