The iconic time travel trilogy ended in 1990, but like other rebooted 80s classic ala Blade Runner and Indiana Jones, could Doc and Marty be returning?

This was certainly the claim of some fans over the weekend when Back to the Future star Fox appeared to confirm a Part IV.

A Facebook page in his name wrote: “Hi everybody! Today is a very important day, besides of being of my birthday, I’m announcing…”

Five drum emoji drums followed before a sequel was ‘confirmed’.

The post continued: “BACK TO THE FUTURE IV!!!!!

“We thought about for many years and we s[t]arted shooting it last summer.

“I’ll reveal the release date in a few days.”

“Love you all!!!”

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter last summer, Lloyd said: “I would love to do Doc again, no question.

“It’s tough to come up with an idea that contains the excitement of the original three.

“So it would be a real challenge for the writers to come up with an original Back to the Future story that has the same passion and intensity and excitement as the other three. But it could be done, you never know.”
