Batman SHOCK: Josh Brolin – ‘I’m REALLY glad I didn’t do Batman v Superman’
Two years ago Ben Affleck entered the DC Extended Universe as a middle-aged Batman, a role that nearly went to Brolin.
Following Henry Cavill’s debut as Superman in 2013’s Man of Steel, plans for a crossover movie with Batman saw some A-list stars in the running to play the Dark Knight.
After Christian Bale declined to return, a shortlist included Ryan Gosling, Richard Armitage, Matthew Goode and Brolin.
Now the Avengers Infinity War star has revealed he did talk with Zack Snyder about playing Batman.
Speaking with Comic Book Movie, he said: “We indirectly talked about it, but we never got to the point because I wasn’t the guy for him.
“I’m really glad it didn’t happen. I haven’t thought twice about it.”
Back in 2014, he told Yahoo why: “Me and Zack had a conversation about it and there were several reasons why we said it wasn’t the best idea on both sides. I had mine and Zack had his.
“To me, it’s not about being cool and all that stuff.”
Brolin continued; “Looking back over your shoulder and saying that one line everyone’s going to remember? Maybe I could do that.
“But I do roles that aren’t necessarily all that cool. All my stuff is a little off.
Brolin’s fans will probably be grateful he didn’t play Batman, as it’s unlikely he would have been cast as Thanos in Avengers Infinity War and Cable in Deadpool 2.
Meanwhile Affleck may soon be done with the DC Extended Universe, following the embarrassing box office performance and reviews of Justice League.
