Michael B Jordan stars in the sequel to the Rocky franchise’s surprise success Creed.

Creed 2 follows the continuing story of Adonis Creed, played by Jordan, the boxer being trained by Rocky Balboa, a role reprised by Sylvester Stallone.

Here are the first look stills from Creed 2.

The sequel follows Adonis Creed, his life now a balancing act, presumably as a boxer and a father (there is a baby in the trailer).

The first Creed movie gave audiences Adonis Creed – an underdog easy to root for, and a talented light heavyweight boxer.

The plot continues: “Between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life.

“Facing an opponent with ties to his family’s past only intensifies his impending battle in the ring.”

Starring alongside Jordan is Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa, who remains there by his side through it all.

The final moments of the trailer show Adonis facing a boxer whose jacket is emblazoned with the name Drago.

Romanian boxer Florian “Big Nasty” Munteanu stars as Viktor Drago, the son of Rocky-franchise villain Ivan (Dolph Lundgren) Drago.

Drago killed Creed’s father, Apollo, in the 1985 sequel Rocky IV, and this tension between a Rocky and Adonis shared traumatic past is a vein which runs through Creed 2.

Tessa Thompson, the Westworld star whose recent movie credits include Sorry To Bother You and Annihilation, has reprised her role as Creed’s girlfriend, Bianca.

Back in January 2016, the eponymous hero of the original Rocky movies, Sylvester Stallone, and Gary Barber (MGM’s CEO ) confirmed a sequel to the 2015 movie was in development.

Filming for the Creed sequel took place in the Port Richmond neighbourhood of Philidelphia, Pennsylvania and finished shooting on June 7, 2018.

Phylicia Rashad, Wood Harris, and Andre Ward will also reprise their roles from the first Creed movie.

Creed II is in cinemas Friday, November 30, 2018.
