David de Gea to Real Madrid: Florentino Perez opens up on Manchester United star transfer

In 2015, Madrid came close to signing De Gea but the move collapsed late on.

But the Champions League winners have remained interested in the Spanish goalkeeper ever since and last week a £60million bid for De Gea was reportedly rejected by Manchester United.

However Perez has hailed the United keeper and remained coy over whether the 26-year-old could finally end up at the Bernabeu this summer.

“De Gea is a great goalkeeper who plays for United,” he told Atresmedia.

“I don’t know where he will play next season because I’m not a fortune teller.”

Meanwhile Spanish football expert Guillem Balague claims United boss Jose Mourinho is willing to let De Gea leave to sign Madrid’s Alvaro Morata.

Balague said on Twitter: “Morata said last night his dream is to stay at Madrid…but he’s looking for a way out.

“Nothing from Milan at this point, MUFC want him.

“Mourinho (strangely) willing to sell De Gea for €25m and Morata.

“Chelsea divided between Lukaku & Morata. He would like to play in the PL.”
