The 15-year-old, from New Zealand, revealed on Jimmy Kimmel’s US chatshow that the movie rating system in the country rules him out of legally watching it.

“It’s R16 in New Zealand, so I can’t watch it,” he said, indicating that he’s a year too young.

“We’re doing this fundraiser because my cousin’s going to England to do rugby. We got the cinema, they were like, ‘yeah, you can introduce the movie, but you can’t watch it’.

“And a few of my mates got kicked out of the cinema.”

Dennison, who previously starred in Paper Planes as Kevin and appeared in the smash hit Hunt For The Wilderpeople, also spoke about one moment from the sequel that ended up on the cutting room floor.

Asked if his parents were OK with the bad language in Deadpool 2, he said: “Yeah, they were fine with that… no they weren’t!

“There was some stuff that got cut out, and Ryan [Reynolds] whispered [something] in my ear, and I was like, ‘oh, my virgin ears…’.

“And I can’t say it now because it’s television and it’s live, but I said it and I freaked out.”

Dennison plays Russell Collins, aka Firefist in the film, which became a huge hit when it opened in cinemas worldwide last week.

The movie managed a global opening of $300 million, including $125.5 million in the United States and Canada.

Its reviews have also been good; clocking in with an overall approval rating of 83% on Rotten Tomatoes and a CinemaScore grade of A.

Reynolds returns as the titular hero in the movie, alongside Josh Brolin in the role of Cable.

Earlier today it was confirmed by the screenwriter that those eyebrow-raising credits scenes don’t necessarily have to make sense in the Deadpool ‘timeline’.

Deadpool 2 is out now.
