Elvis Presley’s album chart record set to be surpassed by megastar who’s just matched King
With claimed sales of over 500 million units, Elvis Presley is the best-selling solo music artist in world history.
In fact, only The Beatles as a band top him as the best-selling music artist of all time.
The King holds a record 67 weeks at No 1 in the Billboard albums chart, which is more than any other solo artist.
However, the late singer’s success has now been matched by Taylor Swift, after her latest re-recording 1989 (Taylor’s Version) took the top spot in this week’s charts.
This means that if Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) remains at No 1 next week, she will break Elvis’ record as the solo artist with the most weeks at the top.
Of course, she has a long way to go to beat overall record holders The Beatles.
The Fab Four have the most weeks spent at the top of the album chart as a band with a whopping 132.
