Harry Potter fans are undeniably excited about the next instalment in the canon.

The Crimes of Grindelwald is the sequel to the prequels, not to confuse you too much.

Fantastic Beasts are the series of movies which take place generations before Harry Potter and his lightning-shaped scar.

The second Fantastic Beasts has drummed up excitement with a new poster.

When is Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald out in UK cinemas?

The sequel arrives in UK cinemas on November 16, 2018.

Along with the UK, the other countries to get the Fantastic Beasts sequel are Bulgaria, Spain, India, Sri Lanka (Colombo specifically), Poland, Romania, Sweden, Turkey, the USA, Vietnam, and South Africa.

But these aren’t even the first countries to be treated to Jude Law as Dumbledore.

Belgium, Finland, France, and Norway are the first countries to be able to see The Crimes of Grindelwald.

They will have a November 14, 2018 release date.

On the following day, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Colombia, Czech Republic Germany, Denmark, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Philippines, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and Slovakia get the sequel.

Lastly is Japan, with a November 23, 2018 release date.

The Fantastic Beasts series was announced in October 2014 as “at least” a trilogy.

The first movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was confirmed to be directed by Harry Potter alumnus David Yates.

Two more movies were planned, for 2018 and 2020.

In July 2016 Yates spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the upcoming screenplay from J.K. Rowling.

He said: “we’ve seen the script for Part 2, for the second movie, which takes the story in a whole new direction – as you should, you don’t want to repeat yourself.

“The second movie introduces new characters as she builds this part of the Harry Potter universe further.

“It’s a very interesting development from where we start out.

By the autumn of the same year, the Fantastic Beasts series went from a trilogy to having five films total.

In October 2016 Eddie Redmayne was confirmed to be reprising his role as Newt Scamander in all subsequent Fantastic Beasts movies.

Ahead of the release date, The Crimes of Grindelwald’s principal photography began on 3 July 2017, at Warner Bros Studios, Leavesden.

Law reportedly finished filming his scenes as Dumbledore in September 2017, and principal photography wrapped on 20 December 2017.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is in UK cinemas November 16, 2018.
