Is there a trailer for Glass?
Yes and you can watch it right here, as well as a video from the UK premiere last night, January 9, 2019.
The trailer shows the three returning protagonists in the care of Sarah Paulson’s Dr Staple.
Though it has been 19 years since Unbreakable was first released, fan fervour for the trilogy has not waned.
However, reviews have not been favourable for the third film in the series, with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 39 percent.
The plot synopsis of Glass reads: “M Night Shyamalan brings together the narratives of two of his standout originals—2000’s Unbreakable, from Touchstone, and 2016’s Split, from Universal—in one explosive, all-new comic-book thriller: Glass.
“From Unbreakable, Bruce Willis returns as David Dunn as does Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Price, known also by his pseudonym Mr. Glass.
“Joining from Split are James McAvoy, reprising his role as Kevin Wendell Crumb and the multiple identities who reside within, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Casey Cooke, the only captive to survive an encounter with The Beast.
“Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.”
The critics’ consensus on Rotten Tomatoes reads: “Glass displays a few glimmers of M. Night Shyamalan at his twisty world-building best, but ultimately disappoints as the conclusion to the writer-director’s long-gestating trilogy.”
David Dunn aka The Overseer played by Bruce Willis is a security guard who possesses superhuman strength, stamina, and invulnerability as well as an extrasensory ability to see the crimes people have committed by touching them.
Elijah Price aka Mr Glass is played by Samuel L Jackson again in the sequel.
Price is a mass murderer and comic book theorist with Type I osteogenesis imperfecta – also known as brittle bone disease.
He also has superhuman intelligence who was turned in to the authorities after Dunn discovered the extent of his crimes.
James McAvoy returns as Kevin Wendell Crumb, a former Philadelphia Zoo employee with 23 different personalities whose body chemistry changes with each personality, resulting in a 24th personality known as “The Beast”.
His personalities include Jade, Orwell, Barry, Patricia, Hedwig, Mary Reynolds, Dennis, Norma, B.T, Mr Pritchard, Jelin and Samuel.
Dr Ellie Staple is played by Sarah Paulson, joining the cast for Glass.
She is a psychiatrist specializing in delusions of grandeur who treats patients convinced they are superhuman beings.
Anya Taylor-Joy plays Casey Cooke, a young girl who was kidnapped by one of Kevin’s personalities as a potential sacrifice to “The Beast” but survived.
Glass is out in cinemas on January 18, 2019.
