James Bond: ‘Good chance Christopher Nolan WILL reboot 007 after Daniel Craig’s last film’

Following Craig’s announcement last August that he would return as James Bond for a fifth and final outing, fans have been speculating who will direct.

Now Danny Boyle is set to helm the movie, but originally Dunkirk’s Nolan was the fan favourite.

Back in February he appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, where he was asked about directing Bond.

Before Boyle spoke out, he said: “I won’t be the man. No, categorically.”

He added: “I think every time they hire a new director I’m rumoured to be doing it.”

However Nolan is still keen to direct Bond in the future, as long as it’s an “reinvention”.

The director continued: “I’d love to make a Bond film at some point and I think those producers – Barbara and Michael – they do a tremendous job and Sam Mendes has done a terrific job the last couple of films, so they don’t particularly need me.

“But I’ve always been inspired by the films and would love to do one someday.”

Now a new rumour comes from a Reddit user claiming: “I work in the film industry and know people tangentially connected to the world of Bond.”

CashleyPersia alleges: “[The Bond producers] met with numerous top-flight directors for their take.

“Chris Nolan was said to have met with Eon and there’s a good chance that whatever they spoke about could become Bond 26.”

If the source is correct, this would certainly corroborate with Nolan’s comments last summer about meetings with Bond producers.

While promoting Dunkirk, Nolan told Playboy: “A Bond movie, definitely, I’ve spoken to the producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson over the years.

“I deeply love the character, and I’m always excited to see what they do with it. Maybe one day that would work out.

“You’d have to be needed, if you know what I mean. It has to need reinvention; it has to need you. And they’re getting along very well.”

With James Bond 25 not due until November 2019 it’s unlikely a Nolan reboot would arrive in cinemas until at least 2022.
